SurgePV was founded in 2025 by the team behind a solar engineering services firm, with its head office in London and engineering in Ahmedabad. It sells design, shading, generation and finance modelling, stringing and SLD, proposals, an AI copilot called Clara, and a CRM, in nine languages. It also runs a large services arm for outsourced design.
Where SurgePV is ahead
- Finance modelling for C&I: SurgePV’s homepage promises CAPEX, LCOE, NPV and IRR scenarios with P50, P75 and P90 forecasts. Solset AI gives a yield estimate from PVGIS irradiance with editable loss assumptions, payback and 25-year cashflow; it does not produce P90 bankability outputs.
- Free calculators: SurgePV lists 38 ungated tools. Solset AI has nine, including a quotation auditor and a PM Surya Ghar subsidy calculator.
- Languages: nine interface languages. Solset AI’s app is in English; only the subsidy calculator is translated.
- Outsourced design services at scale, from pre-design to MW-scale project management, if you want someone else to do the drawing.
Where Solset AI is ahead
- Everything after the proposal: purchase requests and orders, goods receipts matched to bills, warehouse stock, crews, site updates, interconnection tracking, invoices, receivables and service contracts. SurgePV’s pages cover design, proposals and a CRM; its own CRM page notes that its two products do not sync data.
- A free plan and self-serve signup. SurgePV’s only entry is a guided demo.
- Structural engineering in the same tool: wind load, frame analysis, member checks and a STAAD file, per table type.
- Per-workspace pricing in rupees or dollars, instead of per seat in dollars only.
Pricing, side by side
SurgePV publishes annual, per-seat, US-dollar pricing: $1,899 per user per year for one user, $1,499 per user for three users, $1,299 per user for five, with an Enterprise tier on request. There is no trial; onboarding is included. Figures are from the competitor’s own website, read on 8 October 2026; check their pricing page before relying on them.
Solset AI prices per workspace, not per user: a plan covers the company, extra seats are an add-on, and the Free plan never expires and needs no card. Subscriptions are billed in rupees or dollars, and the Design Studio can also be used one roof at a time with pay-per-design credits. Every figure is on the plans page, where it is read from the live catalogue rather than typed into a blog post.
Who should choose which
Choose SurgePV if you are a design-led team selling to lenders who want P90 numbers, or you want design done for you by an engineering bench. Choose Solset AI if you are the EPC that has to build and bill the plant, and you would rather pay for the company than for each person who logs in.
If SurgePV fits the way you sell, use it; the point of this post is that you can decide from the facts. If the job after the proposal is where your margin leaks, start a free Solset workspace, add one real enquiry and take it to a quotation. Our other comparisons are on the compare page.
